About Michele

"My passion for decorating and my love of beautiful homes began when I was a little girl.  One day when I was in the first grade my teacher asked everyone in the class to draw a picture of their home.  I, of course, drew a two-story house complete with every detail, including the tied back, pinch-pleated lined draperies that my mother Maxine had made by hand.  My mother was always frugal and very creative — I  believe she later took those same draperies and made cute jumpers for my sisters Maureen and Monica.

My grandmother Viola was also a positive influence on my budding interests.  I can vividly recall her taking me and my sister Melinda on shopping trips to fabric stores where she'd always be sure to buy us paper dolls to play with.  Back at home I'd take out my big box of crayons to color in the dolls and would find myself fascinated with all the different ways colors could be used together.  Looking back, this was the start of my life-long passion with design and fashion.  I guess you could say I was groomed for the decorating business from a very young age!

These passions continued to grow, and by the time I was in high school I was an avid sewer and model.  Eventually, New York beckoned, and I enrolled at the New York Fashion Institute to study Fashion Buying and Merchandising.  I later applied what I learned there to the decorating field, where my love for fashion turned into a source of inspiration for the "Ball Gown" window dressings that became my specialty.

Today, years later, I love to walk into a client's home when they're totally beside themselves and show them how to pull their rooms together with the help of my beautiful window treatments.  My treatments not only enhance any decor, they also help block the strong sun, insulate their windows, and just look plain gorgeous!
I hope you have fun watching my DVDs (I know I had a lot of fun making them!) and come away with decorating ideas that you can share with your interior decorator."
